Pereira facing eight-game ban

Getafe new-boy Alvaro Pereira will have to serve an eight-game ban left over from his time in Argentina despite moving clubs in January.

Pereira was given the punishment for his part in a brawl between former club Estudiantes de la Plata and local rivals Gimnasia, but moved to Coliseum Alfonso Perez late in the transfer window.

Marca however reports the sanction from the Argentine Football Federation, the AFA, and suggests Pereira will have to see it out even though he is now on El Geta’s books.

Pereira made the loan move on transfer deadline day, having previously represented Inter and Porto and the Uruguay national team.

AS notes it will be April 3 against Rayo Vallecano before Pereira can turn out for his new team, the 31st round of games, meaning his Getafe loan spell will amount to no more than seven appearances.
