Victor waiting for ‘luck’ to change

Deportivo La Coruna Coach Victor Sanchez felt his side should have had a penalty that could have settled the 2-2 draw with Rayo Vallecano.

The Galicians twice came from behind to take a point from the home tie with Paco Jemez’s side and the trainer told reporters after the match that he was proud of his team, and less happy with referee Inaki Vicandi Garrido.

“We’ve done well avoiding the good points of the opponent and creating some very clear chances,” Victor said, AS reports, even as his team’s run of no wins in 2016 was prolonged.

“Generally we were at a high level, very good, but we’ve been punished for mistakes.

“I’d give the fans a 10 and the players eight. They reacted very well, didn’t give the match up for lost, continued to believe and the start of the second half was sensational.

“We’ll continue waiting for [the luck] to balance out. We don’t evaluate the refereeing but it’s true that in recent games, especially at home, the balance has been unlucky.

“We’ve clearly been harmed by decisions. There was a penalty. We’re still waiting for the luck to change.”
