‘Getafe the last game of my life’

Jose Ramon Sandoval has admitted that he is treating Granada’s visit of Getafe in La Liga on Saturday as “the last game of my life”.

The Coach survived a board meeting last weekend as he saw his side crash to a 5-1 defeat at Eibar, the Andalucians’ sixth defeat in seven matches, and he conceded he had no choice but to beat El Geta to stand any chance of keeping his job.

“I’m in battle mode,” he said at a Press conference.

“It seems that the only one who’s playing is me, but it’s not true.

“It’s the team who are playing, and we just want to win for the sake of everyone [at the club].

“We can’t lost like we did against Eibar. Everyone’s worked together to get us back on track.

“Coaches live for results, not performances. When I signed a contract, I also agreed a severance package because my job depends on result.

“Still, I’m living for the present, not the past or future.

“I’m treating [Getafe] as the last game of my life.

“There’s a responsibility [on my part] to keep the team in La Liga, and I’ll give every last drop of sweat to make sure of that.”

Granada have also signed Jesus Fernandez from Levante until the end of the season, but the former Real Madrid goalkeeper has not arrived in time to feature against Getafe.
