Getafe: Lafita out, Thomas in?

Getafe midfielder Angel Lafita is expected to complete his move to Al Jazira on Monday as Fran Escriba confirms his interest in Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.

Marca reports that the 31-year-old has agreed a two-and-a-half contract with the Abu Dhabi outfit after El Geta risked losing him for nothing in the summer, and an injury to Alvaro Medran has exacerbated the side’s need for reinforcements in the middle of the park this winter.

Speaking at a Press conference ahead of Monday’s trip to Sporting Gijon in La Liga, Escriba admitted he wanted to bring Thomas to Coliseum Alfonso Perez but that talks had yet to commence.

“Of course [Thomas] is a player we like and have long followed,” the Coach noted.

“He’s constantly growing, but the truth is that we’ve yet to sit down and agree a deal.”

Thomas, 22, faces increased competition from new signings Matias Kranevitter and Augusto Fernandez but emerged as a catalyst in both of Atleti’s last two games.
