Emery desperate for away win

Unai Emery concedes Sevilla “need to start winning away in order to make our home form count” ahead of Sunday’s trip to Granada.

Los Nervionenses lie eighth in La Liga, having won seven straight games at home, but have yet to win away, and the Coach made it clear to his players that their run of victories at Sanchez Pizjuan must be complemented by success on the road if they are to realise their objectives this season.

“We need to start winning away in order to make our home form count,” he said at a Press conference.

“We want to compete in order to achieve great things in 2016.

“We’re aware that it’s time to keep alive our dream of returning to the European places in the League and enjoying continental competitions.

“[On rotating his squad on Wednesday], I never prioritise anything other than performances. [Rotation] has been the cornerstone of Sevilla’s success.

“The inclusion of players is very important. I played [Sebastian Cristoforo and Ciro Immobile] because they were working well [in training] and that’s good for the team.

“[Yevhen Konoplyanka] has adapted from playing less to more. He’s capable of lifting the fans off their seats and helping his teammates shine.

“[On facing Real Betis in the Copa del Rey on January 6], I only focus on a game when it’s the right time.

“The match against Granada overshadows everything else.”
