Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte will be a priority for Pep Guardiola when he lands in England, most likely at Manchester City, it’s reported.

Mundo Deportivo repeat City are still considered Guardiola’s likely next posting after it was confirmed he’ll leave Bayern Munich this summer, though Manchester United are still in contention.

It’s said that should Guardiola take over at City the club will rival Barcelona for Laporte and City’s better financial position means they’re favourites to meet the centre-back’s €50m clause.

Laporte would though prefer Barca, and that could tip the scale in their favour, but the finances would have to be considered.

Guardiola would also like to take Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad Stadium, and Thiago Alcantara could also follow his mentor, having worked with Guardiola at Barca and Bayern.
