Jemez unhappy with Rayo display

Paco Jemez admitted he was disappointed in his team after the 3-1 second leg Copa del Rey defeat at Getafe, despite qualifying for the last 16.

Getafe appeared to have turned the tie around by overcoming a 2-0 deficit from the first leg in the opening 45 minutes to lead 3-0 on the night. However, Lass Bangoura’s second half strike proved enough for Rayo to win the tie on the away goals rule as it ended 3-3 on aggregate.

“I’m not satisfied, it wasn’t a good game, and I didn’t like anything about our performance, especially defensively,” Jemez told reporters.

“We conceded goals with great ease, which doesn’t befit a Primera team. Getafe had three shots and scored three goals, but if they’d have shot six times they would have had six.

“If this was a League game we couldn’t have done anything about it. My team did quite well at times in the second half, but while we have these kind of lapses we will be unable to compete at this level,” he warned.
