Malaga sack Casado, more to follow?

Malaga have sacked general manager Vicente Casado, and more dismissals could be on the horizon if the Spanish Press are to be believed.

Casado is the first casualty announced by the club, amidst reports he refused to carry out President Sheikh Al-Thani’s request to axe sporting director Mario Husillos, who in turn could be the next to follow, according to AS.

“The Malaga board of directors have decided to terminate the employment of general manager Vicente Casado Salgado,” read a statement on Malaga’s official website.

“The decision will not interfere with the normal operation of the club, to the extent that the current hierarchy ensure adequate coverage of all areas.

“A Press conference has been scheduled for Monday to explain the situation of the club.”

Malaga threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with fellow strugglers Granada on Saturday, a result which ended a run of three straight defeats, and Javi Gracia admitted he was in the dark over his own future.

“I’m not in the mood for nonsense about my position, but I don’t know it any better [than you reporters],” he said.
