Paco Jemez admits he is completely at a loss to explain reports that Rayo Vallecano are closing in on a deal for Japanese defender Daisuke Suzuki.
Suzuki is reported to have told the Japanese media that he received an offer to join Los Vallecanos in January, but the Coach – speaking ahead of Monday’s trip to Getafe in La Liga – went as far as to say that he had never heard of the player.
“I don’t know the player and I’m surprised about [reports of an] offer,” he said at a Press conference.
“[Sporting director] Felipe Minambres hasn’t told me about the player.
“I’m not saying it’s a lie or the truth, but I’ve never seen him play and I don’t know his position, neither have I heard anything within the club which leads me to think he’ll join.
“I would’ve been told [otherwise]. I don’t know where he’ll go.
“[On Getafe], they’ve always been tough opponents. It’s true that we’ve done well [at Coliseum Alfonso Perez], but we’ve always had to make an effort.
“They hoped to have had more points and been in a quieter position [in the table], and you can’t allow them to play football because they’ll hurt you.
“They have talent through their midfielders to their forwards and players who can decide games.”
