Marcelino: Villarreal need goals

Marcelino has admitted that Villarreal are finding trouble scoring goals ahead of Sunday’s match against Eibar in La Liga.

The Yellow Submarine have netted just three times in their last five games, despite flying high in fifth, and the Coach has challenged his side to become more efficient in their opponents’ box, especially in light of injuries to Leo Baptistao and Adrian Lopez.

“Eibar are a team with more chances to win than last season because they’re playing better than they did then,” he said at a Press conference.

“Eibar are a dynamic team, with a direct game which makes it easy for them to create chances and forces you to make quick decisions. Moreover, they’re just one point behind us.

“In the second half of last season, we didn’t achieve the results we hoped for.

“Despite beating Sevilla, we didn’t pick up many points and now comes a key month.

“Right now we only have two forwards available, and one of them has a knock, so it’s time [for the entire team] to step up.

“We’re reaching our opponents’ box enough and causing them problems but not scoring enough for whatever reason.”
