Llorente ‘wants to repay Sevilla fans’

Fernando Llorente is eager to repay the Sevilla fans for the rousing reception he received when joining from Juventus, and thanked Freddie Kanoute for his praise.

Kanoute has been quoted as saying Sevilla needed a player such as Llorente, and the former Athletic Bilbao striker spoke of his admiration for the Rojiblancos legend.

“I’ve always been a fan of Kanoute, so when someone so great says something like that, I’m proud and it makes me more eager to continue working to improve and give everything for Sevilla,” he said, Marca reports.

“Before I came here I was preparing and the information I was receiving was impressive. They breathe football in all corners. The football environment in this city is incredible.

“I just want to repay all the love the fans have given me. I hope they can see my best version, which hasn’t come yet.

“I’ve overcome my injury and I’m starting to feel better. Every player needs minutes to get in shape and gradually I hope to be getting them.

“Every time I walk onto the field, in recent matches, I see I’m getting closer and I’m at a good level, but I can still improve and I can still give more.

“I would like to be a starter and to give my best version. The competition here is very high. Kevin Gameiro has started the season at a very high level but my intention is to fight for a regular place in the team.

“Playing with two strikers is an option we have that the Coach can use when he feels it is necessary. Now we’re in a good moment because there are three strikers scoring goals in recent games and it’s good the Coach can have the option whenever he wants it.”
