Batshuayi or Falcao for Valencia?

Valencia Coach Nuno Santo has asked Peter Lim to sign a striker in January and Michy Batshuayi and Radamel Falcao are the two candidates.

Alvaro Negredo and Rodrigo de Paul are expected to leave Mestalla in the winter window, with de Paul on Tuesday linked to Benfica in the Portuguese Press.

Nuno was recently in Singapore to meet with Lim and Falcao and Batshuayi are the players identified as possible additions.

The desire is to add a striker who can play in the Champions League and Batshuayi, who so far has nine goals in 16 games for Marseille, has only appeared in the Europa League this season.

Batshuayi, a 22-year-old Belgium international, has also caught the attention of Premier League teams, but has been scouted by Los Che.

Falcao is an option as though Chelsea have registered him for the Champions League, as it stands he hasn’t played for the Blues in the competition this season.

The former Atletico Madrid forward is on loan at Stamford Bridge from Monaco but Chelsea are expected to cancel the arrangement in January, potentially opening the door for Valencia.

Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes has been asked to work on the possible transfer and he could be available in a cut-price deal.

But Super Deporte warns that neither target is as yet settled as much depends on Valencia’s Champions League future, with a place in the knockout rounds not yet guaranteed.
