Jose Luis Mendilibar has insisted that Eibar “can’t drop their shoulders” following Saturday’s 3-1 win against Getafe.
The Basques moved into La Liga’s top six courtesy of their victory, but the Coach was more concerned of history repeating itself after the game as the side enjoyed a similarly-impressive start last season, only to avoid relegation by the virtue of Elche’s demotion for non-football reasons.
“I thought it would be a quiet game, but it wasn’t the case,” he said after the game.
“We won, scored three goals, had more chances to score and played well.
“The 19 points we have are deserved and we must continue with the same enthusiasm.
“[Getafe] are a team with very clear ideas and also did well.
“We can’t drop our shoulders [in the second half of the season] and must return [from the winter break] in the same vein.”
