Marcelo slams Madrid critics

Marcelo has slammed the media for “always trying to find things which aren’t there” following Real Madrid’s 3-0 win against Levante on Saturday.

Rafa Benitez has been forced to fend off accusations that Los Blancos have become too cautious under his leadership, but the left-back – who opened the scoring against the Valencians – insists such talk could not be further from the truth.

“Keylor’s a great goalkeeper, who worked hard last season, when Casillas was at the club, and he’s proven to be great this season,” he said after the game.

“The Coach is the one who decides who plays. Jese [Rodriguez] had a great game, ran a lot, fought well and helped us a lot. Whoever plays for Real Madrid must give everything.

“We know we have three tough games in a row, [Saturday] was the first and we managed to win. Now it’s time to rest and think about Paris [Saint-Germain].

“I do my job with a smile on my face and nothing can take [my smile] away from me [referring to Dunga’s perceived lack of faith in him for Brazil], but the most important thing is that I’m well and my team are too.

“I think we’re a fun team to watch. I’ve been here almost nine years and the truth is that the media always try to find things which aren’t there.

“I’m sure that the media don’t know what goes on in the dressing room.”
