Spain Under-21 Coach Albert Celades hailed the ‘effort’ of his players in the draw with Sweden after La Rojita finished with 10 men.
Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez was dismissed shortly after the start of the second half when he picked up a second yellow card, and though Gustav Engvall cancelled out Oliver Torres’ first half goal, the trainer was pleased with the outcome.
“The draw reinforces us as a team,” Celades said, AS reports.
“We can be proud. It’s a day for congratulations after a magnificent first half.
“We had to put in a tremendous effort [after Saul’s red card]. We have to praise the effort and the way the boys played.
“The reality has been [the pitch at Tenerife was poor], the whole world has seen that. For our game, the state of the field is critical.”
