‘Very bad knee injury’ for Rafinha

Luis Enrique has confirmed that Rafinha suffered a “very bad knee injury” during Barcelona 1-1 draw with Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The midfielder replaced Ivan Rakitic on 62 minutes but left the pitch on a stretcher just three minutes later following a collision with Radja Nainggolan, leaving his Coach anxious as to the severity of his setback.

“It seems like a very bad knee injury for Rafinha,” he said after the game.

“It’s a shame as we lost a little control of the game after [his injury]. When you see a teammate on the deck, it affects you.

“We deserved a better result for the effort we put in, but when you play in these competitions and face such organised opponents, it’s difficult.

“The match was clear for us. We had lots of possession and nullified their attacking options. We did everything to win the match but couldn’t score the [winner].

“The responsibility for Roma’s goal is mine and it won’t happen again. If it does, we’ll make sure that we score more than our opponents.

“[On whether Roma were Barca’s toughest opponents in the group], there’s also Leverkusen and BATE. I don’t know who said it was an easy group.

“Of course [our rivals] are fired up [against us], but that can’t be used as an excuse.”
