Leon: I’m a Getafe man

Pedro Leon has renewed his contract with Getafe, completing a remarkable turnaround from last year when he wasn’t even registered to play.

Getafe chose to leave Leon out of their squad for the first half of 2014-15 as, had they included the winger, they would have breached their salary cap.

There was legal action that eventually led to Leon’s restoration to the Getafe set-up and, almost 12 months on, he has extended his deal until 2018.

“I’m a man of this house and I’m happy to stay here. The project with this new coaching staff is very ambitious, so I’m happy,” he said, AS reports.

“Even in the best families there are arguments. Last year there were difficult moments. The President and I had a conversation and from that moment everything was settled.

“The problems last year were solved by the President. This year I’m only thinking about football. The work of the Coach is exciting and he’s brought a style of play that suits us.

“There’s been a mutual agreement [to renew]. I helped the club and the club helped me.”
