Unai Emery hinted Fernando Llorente would debut for Sevilla against Atletico Madrid despite lacking in match fitness.

Llorente last week completed a move from Juventus and Emery indicated he would have little hesitation in blooding the former Athletic Bilbao striker.

“He comes with a dynamic of important training and perhaps a little lacking match fitness but he is ready,” the Coach said, Marca reports.

“The idea is to have his presence in the team with the intention that he can help us. He’s already part of the group after the first practice.”

Emery moved to discuss Sevilla’s opponents, citing Atletico as an example for teams such as his.

“A lot of teams can look to Atletico. Simeone has done a lot and his team has grown with great strength that allows them to compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona,” he acknowledged.

“They’re a step above Sevilla. It’s complicated to say Atletico and Valencia are on our level. That doesn’t mean we don’t want to be with them. Last year there was only a few points difference.

“I have confidence in my team. We’ve worked well this week. We have to play with patience against Atletico.”
