Llorente: Sevilla my first choice

Fernando Llorente has made it clear that Sevilla were always his first choice after being officially unveiled at Sanchez Pizjuan on Friday.

The striker returns to Spanish football after two years at Juventus, where he won two Serie A titles and picked up a Champions League runner-up medal, and he is ready to begin repaying Los Nervionenses' faith in his ability, starting with a win against Atletico Madrid this weekend.

“Sevilla have shown me plenty of love these last few days,” he began.

“I arrive with huge enthusiasm of giving everything. [Sevilla] are a club who have been growing in recent years and Unai Emery's faith in me was important.

“The most important thing is to give everything for Sevilla. It'd be a dream for me to return to the national team, but it's something which will only fall later.

“I think we have a great group of players, which is crucial, and believe we can win trophies at the end of the season. Third place [in La Liga] is possible.

“I scored 18 goals in my first season in Italy. I come very prepared and I'm looking forward to what lies ahead.

“It's true that I may be lacking match fitness as I've had an ankle injury, but I'm available for Sunday, although it's the Coach who decides [whether I play or not].

“I received other offers, but my first choice was always Sevilla, even though they found it difficult to reach an agreement with Juventus.

“It was great to see that I'd be returning to Turin [in the Champions League]. I spent two wonderful years [with Juve] and think we can rival any team in Europe. We'll give it our all.

“[Sanchez Pizjuan] is a beautiful stadium and I hope to inaugurate it with a great victory over Atletico [Madrid].”
