Jonathas wanted by La Real

Real Sociedad have made contact with Elche striker Jonathas but any move is complicated by the striker’s situation with his current club.

Mundo Deportivo report Jonathas has denounced Elche for non-payment of wages and believes he should be free to walk away from the relegated outfit.

A judge will rule if that is the case but likely not until September, after the transfer window has closed, leaving Jonathas in limbo.

Jonathas has tried to buy his way out of Elche for a €1.5m fee but the club turned down the deal, although La Real could try to reach an agreement.

Elche have for their part missed the deadline to sign Jonathas for €1.5m but his loan contract runs for another 12 months.

Jonathas’ registration is technically owned by a Brazilian third division side, co-owned by Jonathas’ agent, Mino Raiola, and his buyout clause there is €20m.

La Real had looked at Fabio Borini, who doesn’t want to leave Liverpool, and Salomon Rondon, who is wanted by a number of other clubs, including Liverpool and Roma

Complicating matters further with Jonathas is the fact that he missed reporting back to Elche for pre-season as it’s said he no longer has the correct work permit to be in Spain.

La Real Coach David Moyes has made a striker his priority and the Basques are eager to get it right this summer after last year’s signing, Alfred Finnbogason, struggled in La Liga.
