Father ‘calm’ on Rafinha future

Rafinha is remaining “calm” about his future at Barcelona, despite receiving no indications of a renewal, according to his World Cup-winning father Mazinho.

The midfielder signed his last contract in June 2013, shortly before joining Celta Vigo on a season-long loan, and now has only one year left on that deal, but the former Brazil international believes an extension will eventually be agreed.

“It’s true that [Barcelona] haven’t told us anything [about a renewal], but we’re calm,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“He has one year left on his contract, but he’s still a Barca player and there will be time to sit down and talk.

“[On being able to negotiate pre-contracts with other clubs on January 1], that’s not a problem.

“There won’t be any problems, for sure. [Rafinha’s] happy at the club and with his teammates.”

Rafinha’s older brother Thiago left Barca for Bayern Munich in a €25m transfer two summers ago.
