Emery: ‘Sevilla totally focused’

Unai Emery maintains Sevilla are totally focused on the job at hand when they visit Fiorentina for the Europa League semi-final second leg on Thursday.

The Andalusians take a 3-0 advantage to the Artemio Franchi from the first encounter at the Sanchez Pizjuan but Emery is under no illusions that the tie is over.

“We’re very aware we are close to the final and we’ve prepared for this match by ignoring the first-leg result. We can’t allow ourselves to think it will be as clear-cut again,” he told a Press conference.

“We are very motivated and only thinking of competing and playing our best. We’ll have to be careful because we know they will also be very motivated, so we’ll need to produce a good performance, which comes when you play to win.

“We are going to be fully focused as both sides have knocked out some strong teams to reach this stage. We’ve already been in this situation and we don’t want to throw away such an advantage.

“I’ve heard some supporters have already booked tickets for the final in Warsaw, trying to get cheap flights and assuming we’ll be there, but there’s no guarantee of that. What I will guarantee is we’ll give our all to make it.

“I know we are halfway there and we know Fiorentina are a good team. We might have beaten them in the first leg but we can’t take it for granted it will happen again.

“We must concentrate from the first second to the last. I want my players to be playing after 80 minutes as if it was the first,” insisted Emery.
