Emery: Sevilla want more

Unai Emery has warned Fiorentina that Sevilla will travel to Tuscany with the aim of winning after Thursday’s 3-0 victory in the Europa League semi-finals.

The Andalucians have one foot in an historic final thanks to goals from Aleix Vidal and Kevin Gameiro, but the Coach was still not satisfied as he demanded a superior performance from his players at the Artemio Franchi next week.

“You get an idea of the type of game you’re in for once you analyse your opponents,” he told reporters.

“We had to compete for 90 minutes, regardless of the result. We had to suffer, work hard and take our chances and embrace the Sanchez Pizjuan.

“With that, the team were inspired and their hard work paid off. We’ll now prepare thoroughly for the remaining 90 minutes.

“We knew they were going to lose their shape during our attacks and that’s what allowed us to score [three goals].

“In the second half, we pegged them back into midfield, where we could wait for our moments to attack. I thought my team read the game well.

“[Fiorentina] also play with attacking full-backs at home, so we have to impose ourselves on them and take control of the wings.

“We’ll respect the next 90 minutes, and we won’t waste a single minute.

“We won’t let them have the ball without a fight. We’ll play [in Florence] with the ambition of winning, competing and being better than we were in Seville.”
