Nuno: CL not guaranteed

Nuno Santo has warned Valencia’s place in next year’s Champions League isn’t yet certain despite a 3-1 win over Eibar.

Nico Otamendi, Dani Parejo and Paco Alcacer were on target at Mestalla, Mikel Arruabarrena netting for the visitors as Los Che reached 72 points for the campaign.

“That shows the competitiveness there is in this League,” Nuno said after the match, according to AS.

“Last year Champions League was earned with 70 points and this year it will take more than that.

“We have 72 and we want more. We’ve grown a lot and achieved many things but we want to reach the end with our objective.

“There’s three teams [after third place]. The competition will be decided at the end of the season. Nothing is secured but we can’t ignore we have the chance to go a step closer.

“The team has been phenomenal. We played at a very high tempo. The score allowed us to play with possession in the second half.

“I understand the fans weren’t comfortable with that but they have to understand, must be appeared, and we have to try to attack with possession.”
