Garitano rues half-time collapse

Gaizka Garitano lamented the morale-sapping nature of Eibar’s 2-1 defeat to Rayo Vallecano on Friday. “Losing at half-time was a huge blow for us”.

Mikel Arruabarrena’s penalty gave the Basque minnows hopes of a first win since the second week of January, until quick-fire double from Alberto Bueno and Manucho extinguished them shortly before the restart.

“We went missing early on in the second half after having a very good first half,” the Coach said after the match.

“The first 25 minutes of the second half weren’t good, and although we returned to our usual game, we did so without any luck. I don’t think we deserved to lose the match.

“Any defeat hurts, but losing at half-time was a huge blow for us. Anyway, I'm happy with the team because they gave everything.

“There are two options: the first is go home crying and with our heads dropped. The second is to return to training in the morning and think about Tuesday’s game.”
