‘Eibar need to stay positive’

Gaizka Garitano has urged his Eibar players to keep their heads up ahead of Friday’s trip to Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga.

The Basques are in the midst of a mid-season slump, having gone three matches without a win, while their preparations for the game at Riazor have been interrupted by heavy snowfall, but the Coach is remaining upbeat.

"We must have a good game. We need to strengthen the morale of the team and be optimistic,” he said at a Press conference.

“If we’ve been criticised after recent results, it suits us because we’ll be forced to work harder and shake things up.

“I’m not saying that the team are faltering, but we need these alerts from time to time so we can can improve.

“Deportivo have new signings and are now in their best period of the season. We know them well, and it’ll be a nice challenge, but we must make our efforts count.

“We have to be more ruthless. The team have always played well, so we have to recover those qualities. We’ve already shown that we’re not an easy opponent for anyone.

“We've trained as much as we can [despite the adverse weather conditions], but we’ve also used other things like videos. We’re ready for the game.

“Didac Vila has trained very well and we have great confidence in him. [Rafa Paez] is a player who fits our profile. He’s very hungry and we expect him to grow with us.

"[Manu del Moral] is a very important player for us, but I can’t think about him this month [due to his injury]. I’m only thinking about the rest of the team.”
