Manucho: ‘Miku will motivate Rayo’

Rayo Vallecano striker Manucho believes the arrival of fellow frontman Miku will prove a motivation for the Madrid club.

Venezuela international Miku joined Rayo on a free transfer from Qatar outfit Al-Gharafa Sports Club this week and Manucho has welcomed his arrival.

“I think Miku coming here will be a motivation for us all. The more players we bring in to help the team the better,” the former Manchester United and Real Valladolid man told reporters.

Rayo sit 12th in La Liga, four points clear of the relegation zone, but Manucho admits the team’s form at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas must improve, having lost seven games out of 10 there this season.

“At the moment we are working well, particularly in away games, but at home we must do better from now on. We are anxious to win although I don’t think we’ve been losing because of a lack of concentration.

“The margin for error here has been raised and when we next win a home game everything will be okay. We want to make amends for what went wrong against Deportivo and aim to start with Monday night’s game at Elche.”

The Angolan, who has scored three times in 21 appearances this term despite starting just three times, spoke of his determination to force his way into Paco Jemez’s first-choice XI.

“The boss is the one who knows when I should play and when he needs me. I’m available and never let my head drop, so I’ll try to take advantage of any opportunity.

“I always expect to be in the starting line-up but it’s up to the Coach. I look forward to training and I’m always strong, while I hope to respond to any chance I get.

“I’m one of those people that is always okay regardless of any problems there are,” he concluded.
