‘Getafe exit not my decision’

Cosmin Contra has admitted that he is ‘not happy at all’ about leaving Getafe for Chinese club Guangzhou R&F.

The Romanian Coach appears destined to succeed Sven-Goran Eriksson at the East Asian outfit, but he insists the decision to depart Los Azulones was not a personal choice, explaining that his employers’ dire financial position took precedence.

"I’m not happy at all about leaving for China, I don’t want to go,” the trainer told Fanatik.

“The club need to move me on because their financial situation is very serious, and they have no money for transfers.

“I don't know what will happen [to Getafe] in the coming months, but until the money reaches the club, I won't be leaving, and it still hasn’t appeared.

“I’m the most expensive Coach in Getafe’s history. I felt it was for the best to leave for China as it would greatly help the club.

“I’ll be on the bench against Rayo on Sunday. Maybe next week Getafe will get their compensation, and I will depart for China.”
