Llorente philosophical over La Roja

Juventus striker Fernando Llorente remains philosophical over his absence from Vicente del Bosque’s Spain squad.

The former Athletic Bilbao man has hit the back of the net three times in 11 Serie A games this term, and was again on the mark in his side’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Malmo on Wednesday.

However, the 29-year-old has not appeared for the Spanish national team since last November and spoke about his absence from the squad, despite his fine form.

“I’m not going to cry if I don’t go to the national team and I don’t know if I’ve got the confidence of the Coach.

“What I do know is that I’ll need to continue working well with my club,” Llorente told Sky Sports immediately after the clash in Sweden.

“It was a difficult match against Malmo. We had several chances in the first half but we were unable to score.

“We now have to win against Atletico and will try to clinch first place in our group,” he maintained.
