Garitano hails “crazy” Eibar victory

Eibar boss Gaizka Garitano hailed a “brilliant” game following Monday night’s 3-2 victory at Rayo Vallecano.

Garitano saw his side squander a two-goal lead courtesy of Mikel Arruabarrena and Federico Piovaccari after Leo Baptistao netted twice in a minute, only for Arruabarrena to come up with the winner five minutes from time.

However, the delighted Garitano did concede that perhaps a draw would have been a fairer outcome.

“It was a brilliant game for the spectators with twists and turns and goals. It was crazy,” he told a post-match Press conference.

“We played well in the first half and were doing OK when things were level. We played three central defenders and felt more comfortable, but they are a very brave team that caused us lots of trouble.

“Maybe a draw would have been fair. Rayo were like a whirlwind in the second half, although we weren’t in too much bother in the last 20 minutes.

“With the changes they made, putting Baena up front and playing three at the back, it created some difficulties for us.

“They are like us, a team that never gives up and always fights to the death,” he concluded.
