Jemez: Defensive errors cost us

Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez lamented the defensive errors that contributed to his side’s 3-2 home defeat to Eibar.

The Madrid club saw the visitors take a two-goal lead through Mikel Arruabarrena and Federico Piovaccari before Leo Baptistao scored twice in a minute to level things.

However, Arruabarrena popped up again five minutes from time to seal the points for the Basques, leaving Jemez frustrated at his defence’s shortcomings.

“This was a game where my emotions went through a bit of everything,” he told a Press conference.

“We were capable of getting back from two goals down, which nobody thought we could do, and getting 10,000 people on their feet.

“But, on the other hand, we also did a lot of bad things and defensive errors cost us very dearly.

“Therefore, the only thing we can do is work hard to make sure the players don’t get things wrong again.

“We need to do a lot better than we have been doing because we’ve conceded too many goals and La Primera is very difficult,” he explained.

Rayo’s next game is on Saturday against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“We must go there to play football, to compete, and try to do the best we can. We’ll see what we are capable of doing.

“It’s going to be difficult, we know that, because not only are they winning games but they are doing it with a freedom you don’t often see.

“It’s going to be tough but it’s nice to be going back there again this year,” concluded Jemez.
