Garitano questions refereeing

Gaizka Garitano believes referee Undiano Mallenco lacked consistency as Eibar drew 3-3 at home with Levante.

Levante were 2-0 and 3-2 in front, Eibar pegging the visitors back each time, but Garitano told his post-match Press conference his side should have had another goal.

He also argued another refereeing decision cost his team, as well as criticising the defending on show from the Eibar back line.

“Conceding early set the course of the match. We played and had to open up, with the risk that Levante are good on the counter-attack,” he said, AS reports.

“We weren’t good in defence in general but at 2-2 we had a legal goal disallowed by the referee.

“And at one point we had a player bleeding on the ground but the referee didn’t stop play and Levante scored.

“Minutes earlier we were attacking and the referee stopped the game because there was a Levante player on the floor and he was faking an injury.

“I’m proud that we came back from two goals down and then again at 3-2 but conceding three goals at home is too many. We have to do better.”
