Marcelino unhappy at Eibar scheduling

Villarreal boss Marcelino has declared himself unhappy at the scheduling of the fixture at Eibar on Wednesday night.

The Yellow Submarine will have had two days less rest than their opponents following the Week 4 round of fixtures, a set of circumstances Marcelino believes is being repeated all too often.

“We will arrive with a lot less rest than our rivals as they played Friday and we played Sunday. This is something that continues to happen and we then have to adapt to it,” he told gathered media.

“If it was 24 hours then that would be understandable but 48 hours is too much, particularly since it comes on the back of us playing in Europe. We have to accept it but it still means we will have had less rest.”

Marcelino acknowledged his players face a difficult task to overcome a newly-promoted Eibar side that has made a solid start to life in the top flight, with two wins and two defeats.

“They are a team that presses the ball well and has a clear idea of where to get it back. Therefore, we will need to be very careful and make quick adjustments, both in defence and attack.

“But it’s logical that Eibar are going to compete since they enter this game in a positive frame of mind, having just won, and it is something that happened to us last year.

“They are a very organised and strong team that will demand much from us, so it’s going to be very difficult to take anything away from Ipurua,” he claimed.
