Llorente calm over Spain snub

Fernando Llorente is taking a philosophical stance after missing out to Munir El Haddadi on a call-up to the Spain squad to replace Diego Costa.

Costa withdrew from the party to play Macedonia tomorrow through injury and rather than turn to an experienced head, Vicente Del Bosque added teenage Barcelona forward Munir to the group.

Llorente, speaking while watching Spain’s basketball team in the World Championships, admitted he wanted the call but suggested the Coach’s decisions had to be respected.

“There are many players at his disposal. Of course I wanted to play again but Del Bosque decides,” AS reports the Juventus striker as saying.

“If he has decided to bring Munir, there must be a reason.”

Del Bosque duly revealed why he added Munir to the squad when speaking on Spanish television.
