Madrid lining up Negredo?

Real Madrid have identified Alvaro Negredo as a fall-back should they fail in their pursuit of Monaco’s Radamel Falcao.

The Manchester City striker is currently sidelined with a broken toe but fell out of favour last season as City won the Premier League title, with AS making the suggestion that Negredo doesn’t have the faith of manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Falcao remains Madrid’s first choice but it’s claimed that Juventus look a possible destination as well after the Colombia international’s agent Jorge Mendes met with the Italians in Monaco.

Negredo would be one of two Madrid signings before the close of the transfer window as when Xabi Alonso completes his move to Bayern Munich, Los Blancos will add a midfielder to replace him.

Wolfsburg’s Luis Gustavo has been mooted as Carlo Ancelotti looks to add more defensive solidity to his squad, while Marco Veratti of Paris Saint-Germain has also been touted.
