Lahm retires from international football

Germany’s World Cup winning captain Philipp Lahm has retired from international football, according to reports in Germany.

Lahm made 113 appearances for his country and capped his international career last weekend by lifting the World Cup after Germany beat Argentina through a Mario Gotze goal.

Bild have today claimed that 30-year-old Lahm is to step away from Die Manschaaft but is to continue with Bayern Munich, where his contract runs until 2018.
