‘Winning at Barca isn’t enough’

Former Barcelona boss Tata Martino has admitted that ‘winning at Barcelona wasn’t enough’.

The Argentine tactician spent just one season at the Camp Nou, and guided the Catalan club to a trophy-less campaign in the process.

And the 51-year-old has conceded that comparisons with the Pep Guardiola vintage were ‘never positive’.

“Pep's Barcelona was the best team in all history,” he told a Press conference in Argentina.

“The comparison was never positive. At Barca, winning wasn't enough.

“At Barcelona, if you won it was thanks to the players and if you lost it was my fault.

“It was hard to continue. And when the players back their Coach in public it's nice at the time, but you soon grow weary.”

Martino left after their last game of the season against Atletico Madrid, and will be replaced by Luis Enrique for the 2014/15 campaign.
