Premier League side Manchester United have been linked with a move for Barcelona and Spain left-back Jordi Alba.
AS reports that United are looking for a replacement for Patrice Evra and Alba’s name has come up. Louis van Gaal is to take over at Old Trafford after the World Cup and has been given a hefty transfer budget.
Southampton’s England international Luke Shaw was said to be close to moving to the former champions but the deal has hit a snag, causing United to look elsewhere.
They don’t expect any deal for Alba to be easy but United may make a move regardless, since they can afford to put a big-money offer on the table.
