Barca make Miranda contact

Barcelona have been in touch with Atletico Madrid over the prospect of signing centre-back Miranda, according to reports in Spain.

Marca claim that Barca will sign two central defenders this summer and have identified the Brazilian as one of them, reaching out to the League champions on Sunday.

But it is understood that Atletico are not willing to let Miranda leave for less than the amount stipulated in his contract – €30m.

Barca could pay the required amount for the 29-year-old as it is said Miranda is a long-standing target of the club and his experience of La Liga would be welcomed at Camp Nou.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos remains a Barca target, Marca add, with his transfer made possible by the imminent arrival in the French capital of David Luiz.

A deal involving Dani Alves could be made but the two clubs have yet to agree on valuations for either player.

Marquinhos was reported to have welcomed interest from Barca but has since denied making the comments that were attributed to him.
