Llorente not giving up on World Cup

Fernando Llorente has not given up on winning a place in the Spain squad for the World Cup despite being left out of the group to play Italy.

Vicente Del Bosque has only named two orthodox strikers in the squad, Alvaro Negredo and Diego Costa, with Llorente left on the sidelines.

“I have to accept the decision of Del Bosque,” Llorente is quoted by AS as saying.

“I will try to change his mind. To not go to the World Cup would be a blow.

“I would have loved to be in the squad against Italy but Costa is having an extraordinary year and is a great player.

“There are still many days before the next squad is named and I think the final list will have three strikers. I’m going to do everything I can to be one of them.”
