Filipe: Osasuna deserved it

Filipe Luis didn’t begrudge Osasuna their 3-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on Sunday, admitting the Pamplona side deserved to win.

“They’ve been better,” Filipe told reporters after the final whistle.

“They took their chances. We couldn’t get into the game.

“The Coach told us at half-time that we needed to score early. We were calm but it wasn’t possible.”

Filipe made his comeback from injury in the game and said on a personal note, he was pleased to be back.

“I’m happy to return to the team. I feel good after three weeks of not playing.”

All three goals came in the first half with Atletico unable to move level on points with Real Madrid at the top of the table.

The Madrid derby is next Sunday and Filipe said Atleti are already targeting the visit of Los Blancos to get back on track.

“We have the opportunity to catch them. Madrid is a giant.

“This League is two teams [Madrid and Barcelona] and we’re involved but it will be difficult.

“At home we are very strong. It was difficult to beat them in the Cup and now we want to break the curse of the Calderon.”
