Juan Ignacio Martinez doesn’t want Real Valladolid to have any excuses in their attempt to stay in La Liga.

Valladolid are second bottom of the table, six points better off than Real Betis but four points from safety.

They meet Levante in their next fixture and the Coach has called for his players to give absolutely everything in their fight for survival.

In an interview with AS, Martinez agreed it will take character to pull out of danger.

“The future of the club is most important and it’s unfortunate we’re in this situation,” he said.

“I have no doubt the players have character and another level. They will die in the field.”

It was put to Martinez that a defeat to Levante could signal the end of his tenure and also doom Valladolid to relegation.

“Things can be interpreted 1,000 ways,” he replied.

“It is vital for us that we don’t let our opponents increase the gap.

“We are facing a good team, dynamic and strong in defence.

“My team has recovered emotionally from [losing to Atletico Madrid] and we have to have patience against Levante.”
