Koke signs new Atletico deal

Koke has signed a new contract at Atletico Madrid that will tie the midfielder to the club until 2018.

Marca reports that Koke’s contract was originally extended in September but the Vicente Calderon hierarchy were keen to improve the player’s terms once more.

Koke has been a target for Manchester United and it is felt that the Premier League club’s interest was the primary driver behind the decision to re-negotiate.

The release clause in Koke’s deal has been upped from €24m to €60m.

Atletico have signed the likes of Arda Turan, Diego Costa, Juanfran, Diego Godin and Tiago Mendes to new deals this season and continued the trend not only with Koke but also Olivier Torres and Javi Manquillo.

Both of the youngsters have also agreed new contracts, with Marca adding that Atelti are happy to maintain three of their home-grown players.
