Rafinha: Madrid made us pay

Celta Vigo midfielder Rafinha said Real Madrid made the Galicians pay dearly in the 3-0 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday night.

Karim Benzema opened the scoring for Carlo Ancelotti’s men on 67 minutes before Cristiano Ronaldo wrapped things up with two goals in the last 10 minutes.

However, things could have been very different had Celta striker Charles not spurned two glorious opportunities with the game goalless, and Rafinha [pictured, left] made it clear it is the small details that count.

“We were matching such a great team but if you make the slightest mistake they score,” he told reporters.

“Their players are among the best in the world and if you don’t get the small details right they take advantage.

“We stood up well to them but Real Madrid are like that and they exploited our errors. If you do that to an opponent such as them then you pay for it.

“Even so, we are playing good football and doing things well, although the results have not gone for us,” explained Rafinha, who is on a season-long loan at Balaidos from Barcelona.
