Jemez: Rayo will not get nervous

Paco Jemez has asserted that for Rayo Vallecano’s current predicament, they ‘will not get nervous’.

Los Franjirrojos tonight host Real Valladolid in the second leg of the Copa del Rey Round of 32 with the scoreline level after a goalless first leg.

Whilst the Madrid outfit would be forgiven for keeping one eye on the coming weekend’s League meeting with Athletic Bilbao, due to recent form having left them 19th in the table, their Coach is not passing up the opportunity the Cup represents.

“We cannot miss any opportunity to improve. This match is very important,” Jemez has made clear to reporters today.

“First, because we want to continue in this competition. And second, to take moral and confidence in order for the match against Athletic on Sunday.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to improve.

“Have we recovered from the weekend defeat to Granada? Within five minutes. The resilience of this squad is spectacular.

“I have seen the video of that game several times and I think for what we are doing we should be winning games.

“The team is doing many things well. This is the formula for results arriving. We will not get nervous. Everything we are doing is allowing us to remain calm.

“Are we concerned about tonight’s opponents Real Valladolid? They are our next opponent. We should have picked up a better result than we achieved in the first leg, a goalless draw.

“I have asked my players to give me the same thing as in that game, as I am certain they will be more successful. If they do that, we will progress in the tie.”
