Bernd Schuster says that Malaga are better off knowing that they have to play to win against Osasuna tonight.
After a 3-3 draw in the first leg of their Copa del Rey Round of 32 meeting with Los Rojillos, the Anchovies head out to Pamplona with the disadvantage of away goals against them, and in all likelihood needing a win to guarantee progression to the Last 16.
For their tactician, though, this is not a negative situation.
“I said to the players that I like being in this situation as only winning counts, and that’s all we need to focus on,” Schuster has mused pre-match.
“We need to try and keep all possibilities open as long as possible in [tonight’s] match, as absolutely anything can happen in Cup game.
“A good example is our last match against Getafe CF, and the first hour of the last game against CA Osasuna.
“Physically, the team is in good shape. We’re going to try our hardest to qualify to the next round of the Copa del Rey, but the next three League points up for grabs on Friday are very important.
“We need to stay on this right track and try and impose our style of play. We’ll continue to improve as the positive results keep on coming.
“There are a lot of players on the team who have a lot of room for improvement.”
