Pablo: Facing Valencia is special

Pablo Hernandez has reflected on the special occasion facing former side Valencia in the Europa League will be.

The winger left the Mestalla outfit 18 months ago to join Swansea City and is in contention after recent injury to feature in Thursday evening’s group stage encounter in Wales.

“This game is very special to me because this is my old team, but for the rest of the squad it is also very important,” mused Pablo to reporters pre-game.

“They are special matches when you are facing an old club. It has just so happened that Valencia and Swansea have ended up in the same group.

“I missed the first game at the Mestalla but I went to the game with the squad and it was a special night.

“Valencia is my second home. I was there for eight years, and this will be a special game for my family and friends.

“I am originally from a town which is only 60km away from Valencia, so it is a club I will always have in my heart.

“I have trained this week with the team and hopefully I will play. The last three months [through injury] have been very hard for me.

“I started the season with an injury, but then I played three games and picked up an injury in the international break that followed.

“I made my recovery against West Ham, and then after two training sessions I had another injury which was different to the previous one.

“But to play on Thursday night would be special for me.”
