‘RFEF lightyears away from justice’

Paco Jemez was highly critical of the RFEF’s Competition Committee for their extended suspension for Saul Niguez, as he looks ahead to Real Valladolid.

The Coach is facing three games without the 18-year-old in his team after the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee handed him an extension of two games to an automatic one-game ban for a red card picked up last weekend.

Reporting that the punishment is for the player’s arguments with the referee at the time that his second booking was only his first, Rayo have appealed and their Coach has made clear his feelings.

“I think the decision is disproportionate, unreasonable and unrealistic. The Committee is there to implement justice but they are light years away from doing that,” Jemez told reporters this week.

“The decision does not take into account what happened. I do not know exactly what example they are measuring this by, but I think that these type of decisions create hostility because they are being made with no-one understanding why.

“As a team we are humble and can only complain with respect and accept the decision. The only thing left is to appeal, I do not know if we will be heard.”

Jemez was talking in his pre-match Press conference ahead of Rayo hosting Real Valladolid in Week 10’s opening fixture on Friday night.

“We hear a lot that they are not right, but I saw them the other day compete against Sevilla and it gave me a sense of a team that is better than the table indicates. They were brave, they took their chances and managed to draw level.

“We have to expect the best version of Valladolid. I want teams to come to Vallecas to give us a good test because that means that we have to step up. We cannot just wait to take advantages of what weaknesses they may have.

“We must also not lose sight of the fact that we have been down in the table. We know how difficult it is to compete in this League. We must be sufficiently prepared for when things happen to us, that they do not affect us.”
