RFEF: Spain-Belarus not in danger

The Spanish Football Federation have commented that they are not looking to postpone or move Spain-Belarus and that it is ‘not in danger’.

Speculation had been immediate in suggesting that the game would be put back 24 hours and potentially moved, after an incident at the Iberostar Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

With one of the power generators at the ground set to host tomorrow night’s World Cup qualifier reportedly exploding and injuring three people, it was believed that the RFEF were working on delaying kick-off by 24 hours and even moving venue.

However, the institution’s spokesperson has made clear that they are not making any moves to try and alter the game’s original scheduling.

“The game is not in danger at all,” Jorge Carretero has told Europa Press on Thursday afternoon.

“We are not working on a change of dates. The only thing to regret is the condition of the wounded, to whom we wish a speedy recovery, and nothing more.

“It may change the timing of the training for Spain [scheduled for 7.30pm CET at the ground] because there may not be enough light.”
