Diego Simeone praised his Atletico Madrid side’s second half performance as they defeated Real Valladolid.

Goals from Raul Garcia and Diego Costa after the break gave the capital club all three points yesterday evening.

And the Argentine Coach has admitted that the match was all about ‘persistence’.

“Valladolid put in a great performance,” he told a Press conference.

“In the first half, they didn’t allow us to play our game. But we spoke at half-time and the players went out onto the pitch and produced a great response.

“It was a game that was all about persistence, all about waiting for our chance.

“We were more assertive in the second half, [with] a persistence that makes us more competitive.”
